Our story…
Several years ago, Bob and I bought this property as we wanted a cabin in the woods. Somewhere to go to enjoy the wildlife, relax and have a simple life.
We were excited about our first hunting season as many people in the area hunt game. The first day of rifle season we had a large amount of snow making it difficult to get to our hunting blinds.
It also made it more difficult for the deer to find food. As we watched them, it became apparent that we needed to help them. So, we started buying two thousand pound bales of alfalfa and truck loads of potatoes to feed them. Soon more and more deer and other wildlife were coming to eat. As we watched the animals interact, we realized that they, like us, have family groups, protect their young, teach them how to survive, play and enjoy life.
So now instead of hunting out of our blinds, we use them as observation posts to take pictures. It’s hard to shoot a deer when you name them!
Over the years, we have taken many photos of deer, turkey, bear, coyote, eagles, red & grey fox and birds. We wanted to share these pictures with people who love wildlife and thought putting them on sweatshirts with cute sayings would be unique. Thus, Say What Sweats was created…
Our goal in creating this business was two fold. FirstĀ – so people could see real wildlife pictures and enjoy what we do. Second – to help offset the cost of feeding the animals through the harsh winters in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
For every sweatshirt sold, a portion of the money will go towards purchasing food supplies to feed the animals, so every purchase is appreciated.
We decided to start our business with only a few of the photos and sweatshirts that we really liked to see if people would be interested in this type of sweatshirt. Of course, since this is a family affair, we had to include a picture of Bug, our Shih Tzu, who is the real boss of the family and of Bob’s funny face to our selections.
We look forward to hearing from you, and thanks for browsing our site.
